What is Mailman?

Mailman is a mailing list program that Western Carolina University uses. It gives you the ability to create a mailing list, or “listserv”, when you have a group or organization that needs an efficient means of communication via e-mail. Members with appropriate permissions can send an e-mail to the list, and that email will be sent out to all others on the list, keeping everyone updated. List administrators also have access to additional features such as membership and moderation settings.

Who Has Access?

Anyone with an e-mail address can join a mailing list (some lists require moderator approval before they will allow you to join). If you wish to create a Mailman mailing list, you must be associated with WCU and have a WCU email address. All mailing lists must conform to the WCU Mailman Policies

Using Mailman

To join an existing list, find it on the list of Mailman mailing lists page and click the name of the list. You will then get information on how to subscribe.

Information for Administrators

If you would like a list created, please contact the the helpdesk and ask for a new mailman mailing list to start the process.
